A Cozy Beginning: Cats, Coffee & Comfort

We started their romantic engagement session in the comfort of their home, which was filled with so much character and warmth.

Their three cats added their own flair to the session.

Darting in and out of frames, lounging near the windows, and reminding us that home really is where love lives.

Mackenzie and Joie kept things cozy and simple—coffee in hand, wine poured, the soft glow of natural light wrapping around them like a blanket.

It felt like a lazy Sunday morning in the best way, and that sense of calm intimacy made for the most meaningful photographs.

This part of the photo shoot was incredibly intimate and special, because it’s as real as it gets. They will cherish these photos for a lifetime.

From Home to Hollywood: The Magic of Oakland

As the sun began to dip, we transitioned to the second half of romantic engagement.

This time, stepping out into the golden, romantic streets of Oakland, one of my favorite places in Pittsburgh to photograph.

The neighborhood’s mix of historic architecture, wide open spaces, and iconic buildings created the perfect backdrop for a shift in energy—from cozy to cinematic.

What to wear for your Summer Night Couple’s Session

Mackenzie changed into a stunning short white dress that felt playful, chic, and so perfect for this celebration of their engagement.

Joie looked effortlessly stylish beside her, and together they radiated that “just said yes” energy that’s impossible to fake.

As we walked through the streets, the light danced across the buildings, giving us that just-after-sunset glow we dream of as photographers.

We popped a bottle of champagne as the sky deepened, and the bubbles mirrored the feeling in the air—joyful, sparkly, a little wild. It was the kind of night that makes you feel like you’re living inside a love song.

To give their gallery visual variety and storytelling depth, I mixed in flash photography with soft natural light.

The flash shots brought in an Old Hollywood and editorial feel—think candid red-carpet moments with bold shadows and dramatic emotion—while the softer, film-like frames kept things romantic, tender, and timeless.

This contrast during their romantic engagement made their photos feel like stills from a movie.

We wandered Oakland’s sidewalks, leaned against the stone walls of the Cathedral of Learning, danced under lampposts, and fully embraced the magic of a Pittsburgh summer night.
