I feel like we don’t focus on how undeniably magical a winter elopement in Pittsburgh can be. But I’m here to tell you all about it!
The city dresses itself in rich, festive colors, the air feels crisp, and everyone pulls out their most beautiful coats.
When Aida and Zachery chose to elope in December at the historic Allegheny County Courthouse, I knew their day would be filled with warmth, romance, and the kind of authenticity that makes intimate weddings so unforgettable.
As a Pittsburgh documentary and editorial wedding photographer, these are the kinds of love stories I live for—real, present, joy-filled moments that unfold naturally and artfully.

We started the day at one of my all-time favorite hotels in Downtown Pittsburgh—the Kimpton Hotel Monaco.
This space never disappoints. With its bold decor, stunning natural light, and impeccably styled interiors, the Monaco is a dream location for a first look.
Aida and Zachery chose to see each other for the first time in one of the hotel’s signature spaces, and the moment was filled with emotion.
Aida looked elegant and timeless, and Zachery couldn’t hide the joy on his face.
The unique design of the hotel brought an editorial flair to their photos and set the tone for the rest of their intimate celebration.

After their first look, we bundled up and walked together toward the Allegheny County Courthouse.
There’s something special about taking those steps through Downtown Pittsburgh—the energy of the city, the winter atmosphere, and the connection between two people about to say “I do.”
On our walk, I documented candid, editorial-style photos that highlighted Aida and Zachery embracing the moment exactly as it unfolded.
Pittsburgh is truly the city of bridges, and it’s also a city filled with stunning architecture that elevates every photograph.
The courthouse, with its stone arches, grand pillars, and warm historic tones, was the perfect backdrop for their winter elopement.

Inside the courthouse, Aida and Zachery exchanged vows in front of their closest friends and family.
The ceremony was short, sweet, and deeply heartfelt.
There’s something powerful about elopements—the focus shifts entirely to the love between the couple, to their connection, and to celebrating what truly matters.
After the ceremony, we took family photos inside the courthouse to capture the joy and support surrounding their day.
These moments are always priceless, especially at intimate weddings where every guest holds a meaningful place in the couple’s lives.

Aida and Zackery chose to do a Self Uniting Marriage Ceremony. That’s right, Pennsylvania recognizes self-uniting marriage, which allows couples to marry without an officiant.
To get a self-uniting marriage license in Pennsylvania, you must apply at the local marriage license bureau and specify you want a self-uniting one; while historically associated with Quaker weddings, you do not have to prove membership in a specific religious group.
Once the license is signed by both partners and two witnesses, you must return the completed license to the bureau.

Once the family portraits were complete, we explored the stunning architecture around the courthouse for bridal photos.
Winter light is soft and romantic, and paired with the historic stone of the building, it created the perfect atmosphere for editorial portraits.
Aida wore a beautiful white coat over her wedding dress—elegant, soft, and incredibly chic for a December wedding.
We finished their portraits at the courthouse patio, where Pittsburgh’s massive natural Christmas tree glowed in the background.
With her white coat, the twinkling lights, and the winter setting, the photos looked straight out of a holiday romance film.
The day was full of joy, love, and so many genuine moments that made documenting their elopement feel truly special.
